AWARD-WINNING EQUINE PHOTOGRAPHER INSPIRED BY THE UNTAMED WILD BEAUTY OF HORSES & NATURE.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work explores the profound connection between horses, nature, and the human spirit. Through fine art photography, I aim to capture the wild heart of the horse, revealing their freedom, grace, and quiet strength. Each image is an invitation to pause and reconnect with the untamed beauty that exists both in the natural world and within ourselves.
One of the most beautiful sights in the world to me is a horse running without restraint. The power and emotion of that wild, unrestrained movement are what inspire my love for photography and fuel my creative journey. Horses embody freedom, beauty, and spirit, and they stir something deep within us all.
My passion extends beyond the horse to the landscapes they inhabit and the wild places that are disappearing around us. I'm drawn to photograph endangered environments, those threatened by overdevelopment and modern living, preserving their beauty before they vanish. These landscapes hold the same untamed spirit as the horses that roam them, and through my lens, I celebrate both the creatures and the wild spaces they call home.
I care deeply about the natural world and the fragile environments where wild and rare native breed horses roam. I believe that art has the power to connect us emotionally and inspire change. Through my photography, I aim to capture the beauty and vulnerability of these magnificent creatures and precious landscapes, raising awareness of their strength and fragility in the wild.
IN EASTERN SPIRITUAL TRADITIONS, THEY SAY THAT THERE'S A WINDHORSE WHO EXUDES POWERFUL POSITIVE ENERGY THAT HAS THE CAPACITY TO INFLUENCE OUTCOMES, PEOPLE, AND SOCIETY.
Inspired by the symbolism of the Windhorse, my art carries a message of hope, energy, and transformation. Every photograph is a moment of communion, a reflection of the bond between horse and human, and the earth we share and a reminder of the wild spirit that lives within us all.
I find this deeply moving, and I like to think that each piece I create carries a little of that spirit within it. Every horse I photograph is unique and special to me, and through my art, I hope to share their beauty, light, and essence with those who seek their own personal Windhorse.

BIOGRAPHY
Based in the rural Pennines, Esther is an equine photographer and encaustic photography artist. Photographing horses is a way of life for Esther over most of her career as she has dedicated her time to photographing horses and other animals. Esther’s considered approach toward her subjects and artwork allows her empathy and understanding of horses to shine through.
Esther went to Swansea University, studying sculpture, painting, and photography culminating in her mixed media photo-encaustic work. Prior to becoming a self-employed artist, she worked as a Forensic Photographer at Greater Manchester Police and later at the UK Forensic Scientific Service. After a role which often sees the darker side of humanity, Esther soon returned to the peace of being amongst horses in their natural world.
Her work exclusively uses archival fine art papers, printed by hand and professionally crafted. Her limited-edition photography prints are available to purchase directly, in exhibitions or via her online print shop. Esther also enjoys helping and supporting people of all ages on their photographic journey by creating workshops centered around horses.
Esther’s photography is renowned for capturing the heart, soul, and beauty of all horses from domesticated to wild and has won many photography awards. This has also extended into animal advocacy, working alongside animal charities such as ACE, HAPPA, and the RSPCA. Esther is proud to have created artwork raising awareness of animal welfare issues. Esther is also a proud associate member of Ebor Studio/Gallery and Paard Verzameld.
