Here’s some helpful information for you about my limited edition horse prints.

Understanding Your Artwork Options

Every piece I create carries its own story, and there are a few ways you can bring that story into your home. Original artworks are one-of-a-kind creations, made by hand, and include a one-off hand framed prints, making them truly unique and deeply personal. Limited edition prints are carefully produced in small, numbered runs, each one signed and authenticated, offering collectors a rare and meaningful connection to the work. Open edition prints are crafted with the same archival quality and attention to detail, but without a set limit, allowing more art lovers to experience the spirit of horses and the natural world in their own space.

ENCAUSTIC ARTWORK

Many people are intrigued when they see my original photo-encaustic artworks, often initially thinking it is a canvas but as they see the photograph up closes they simply just have to touch when they see the texture and depth in the piece.

After inspection, next comes the question “What is it?“

The official  description of photo-encaustics is as follows:

“Encaustic, meaning “to burn in or fuse”, is an ancient painting medium first practised by Greek artists as far back as the 5th century B.C. The oldest known pigment binder, encaustic combines molten beeswax with dry pigment and tree resin. The “caustic” part of the term indicates that heat is used to melt and blend the layers of wax into a unified piece.

The end result is a one-of-a-kind original artwork filled with texture and depth. I really enjoy using wax and pan colours to enhance original photographs to build on texture and colour. Some of my photo-encaustic work is re-photographed and then the image is hand printed on to beautiful printing papers which adds another level of depth and an emotive layer to my photographic work.

My original Encaustics are available to see within my online encaustic portfolio. However, many say, the best way to view and really appreciate my encaustic artworks is to view them in person.

If’s there is a particular artwork you would like too view please get in touch to make an appointment to view ay my studio in Lancashire or at A.B Art studio’s gallery at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Center Cheshire.

Encaustic Art Works are priced individually based on the size of the artwork and whether it is framed. Please see the Encaustic Portfolio to view current artwork for sale.

Caring forYour Encaustic Artwork

Your encaustic artwork is a unique and durable piece, crafted to last a lifetime. To ensure its enduring beauty, a little mindful care goes a long way.

Gentle Dusting: Like any cherished artwork, your encaustic piece will occasionally need dusting. We recommend using a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the surface. Every encaustic artwork purchased from us comes with a complimentary lint-free cloth for this purpose.

Display Environment: Encaustic art thrives in stable environments. When selecting a location for your piece, please avoid areas with extreme temperature fluctuations. This means:

  • No extreme heat: Do not hang your artwork directly above a heat source like a log burner, fireplace.
  • No extreme cold: Avoid unheated spaces that experience very low temperatures, such as uninsulated conservatories or outdoor walls in winter.

While encaustic is incredibly resilient, prolonged exposure to extreme heat can cause the wax surface to become slightly tacky, and extreme cold may lead to cracking. By choosing a stable spot in your home, you ensure your artwork remains pristine for generations.
